Stephen Curry is an independent consultant, teacher and writer. With extensive experience of academia and the pharmaceutical industry, he is Professor of Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of Rochester, having held appointments at the University of London, the University of Florida, and with Fisons and AstraZeneca. His experience in Europe and the United States has given Stephen a unique international perspective on the discovery of new drugs, translational science and medicine, the critical need to choose the right compound for preclinical development, and the necessity to progress compounds from discovery to proof of concept in humans as rapidly as possible. He is skilled in extracting, sifting, summarizing and presenting scientific and medical data and information, for the benefit of project leaders, teachers and students, and for members of the legal profession. He is an expert at designing processes to accomplish the transition from drug discovery to clinical trials and in leading projects through these processes. He is experienced with the regulatory and legal constraints imposed on this process. Educated in Leicester, England, Stephen graduated in Pharmacy from the University of London. He holds doctoral degrees in basic and medical sciences from the University of London, and honorary doctorates and diplomas from De Montfort University in Leicester and The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. He is the author of four books and over 150 publications in scientific journals, including prize-winning papers and essays, was founding co-editor of Biopharmaceutics and Drug Disposition, and was a founding partner of PharmaNova Inc., a Rochester-based drug delivery company.
